I moved to the Stroud area about 15 years ago having grown up in Bath and living for a time in Swansea and Bristol. I moved to Pitchcombe in 2003 where I live with my young family.I've had two careers, firstly spending 15 years as student, researcher and lecturer in Engineering at Swansea University developing the computer modelling techniques that most engineers use routinely today to analyse their designs prior to making them real. Now I work as a self-employed project manager in the IT and Telecoms industry, specialising in performance testing IP telephony networks. In my spare time I sit on the Love Painswick committee, do the administration for Painswick RFC's girls rugby squad, and sing in two local choirs.I joined the Parish Council in 2014, firstly as a co-opted member and now as an elected one. It's quite a responsibility to be one of those maintaining the balance between conserving the exquisite beauty all around us, whilst still allowing the community to grow and flourish. However, it's very rewarding and it has brought me into contact with a whole range of people and organisations that I would never have met otherwise. One of my objectives is to support local businesses, especially those that can reach out to customers beyond the local area and create local employment, so I'm especially pleased to see the arrival of fibre broadband to the district.
